This tape is 5 mm thick glass cloth as the backing with 2mil silicone adhesive. It has excellent temperature resistance (260C/500F max.), good adhesion, tearing resistance and is very flexible. This tape is ideal for high-temperature insulation for air conditioning, electrical and automotive applications. It is available with single coat adhesive or double-coated adhesive (adhesive on both sides of the tape).
Due to its large range of temperature stability (260C/500F max.) and its electrical isolation ability, Polyimide tape is usually used in electronic manufacturing as insulation and protection layer on electrostatic sensitive and fragile components. Further, it can be used as masking in reflow soldering operations. Polyimide tape is available 1, 2, 3 and 5 mil thick backing films, ESD (protects against Electrostatic Discharge) type and Double Coated (silicone adhesive both sides of the film) type.
